our history

The International Network for Economic Method was founded in 1989 on the initiative of Daniel Fusfeld (1922–2007) of the University of Michigan, and Henry K.H. Woo (1946–) of the Hong Kong Institute of Economic Science. Fusfeld served as the first chairman of INEM, and Koo as it executive director.

The first journal of INEM was called “Methodus” and its editor was Victor Mok of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1994 Methodus was replaced by the Journal of Economic Methodology.

In the opening editorial of the first issue of Methodus (December 1989), Fusfeld explains the motivations for the foundation of INEM: On the origin of INEM.pdf
